A bid on the house
Andy and I put a bid on a house yesterday. It's in McHenry, but on the other side of town. It has an above-ground pool with a fabulous two-level deck built all around it. It has a finished basement, and it has huge windows everywhere. We think they're going to accept our offer tomorrow (we've been going back and forth all day), but once that gets settled, it means the next step is selling our house. Ack.
Because the people who own the house we want are in a big hairy hurry to move, we have to sell our house quick-like. Which makes me feel sick and nervous and generally unwell. Our house needs to be straightened up, it needs to be scrubbed, and it needs to stay that way.
So while I'm excited about the prospect of moving into this wonderful new house, I'm also kind of dreading all the work that lies ahead.

How exciting! I can't wait to be a first-time home buyer myself, so I can only imagine what you must be going through. Remember to stop and have chocolate milk every once in a while.
Good Luck!!! My friends just bought a house and sold their house in three weeks, so hopefully things will go that easily for you too!
Darn, and after the wonderful job on Quinn's room, too! Are you going to paint over that or just leave it as a selling point? (I think it's mondo cool - I'd buy a house with a b*#chin' bedroom like that!)
Did they accept? Are you moving on up? Is Eddie OK?
Oh, man! I KNOW what you are going through!! We are trying to put our house up for sale, but we had a huge mice problem in our basement, so we had to get rid of the nasty critters first! Then the cleaning! UGH! I will never move again after this! Good luck!
Wow! That is exciting! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys!
Yea Amy and Andy and Quinn and Baxter!!
Did they accept? Are you moving? Do you need some help? Seriously, I help move everyone. Should we make it a cleaning party? Can we go get a table for us ladies after?
It's true, Erin is the Moving Mistress. I got me some good moving muscles now, too!
All I have to say is it's worth the money to HIRE MOVERS. And I'm not talking about cousins, I'm talking about professional movers. You can even hire them to PACK for you. At the very least, it's worth it to have them pick up all your crap and put it in the room where you want it. No sorting / dictating / screaming as stuff is getting unloaded from a big truck and dumped in the new garage. Have I mentioned that you should hire movers? I've moved a time or two - and those are my three cents.
As for the house - POOL!!! When can we come over??
Have to agree with Cinda. We didn't pay movers/packers ourselves (Gary's company did), but having moved twice with movers and once without, I say they're worth every penny. The second time they even had UNpackers, a team of ladies who came and emptied all of our boxes while I stood around feeling stupid.
one of the best ways to cut down on moving stress is not to sort anything as you pack it. do the sally ann sorting weeks before you pack, when you're still feeling sane, and on packing week just pack everything room by room. label the boxes 'livingroom n1' (n meanng north wall) n2 and so on. stuff in the centre of the room goes 'livingroom 1' etc. that way, when you unpack you just have to drag the boxes to their new locations and whenever you want something, just remember where it *used* to be in your house.
makes your life SO MUCH EASIER!!!! i've moved almost a dozen times since i started keeping my journal.
Well-*, did they accept your bid?
Do you need a realtor?
