Goooo Bearsss.
For the second weekend in a row, my cousin Jen and her husband Paul opened their home to the hordes of family who came to see the Bears play.
At one point towards the end of the game, I ventured over to the couch area where the most intense fans sat. The Bears made a touchdown that, I guess, sealed the deal that they would win. An enormous roar went up in the room, everyone leapt to their feet, and suddenly I was surrounded by the bellies of brothers, cousins, nephews, uncles, all high-fiving, screeching, and carrying on. I held my hands over my face, and sat in a little ball until it was over, sure I was going to be shaken by the shoulders or have my ears boxed or something in all the commotion. Then I got up and ran back to the bar area where I belonged.
Two weeks 'til the Superbowl. I will be there for the Supersnacks.

Found your WONDERFUL blog during a what is usually a futile search for information on Marie Killilea's writings. I've been a fan of her and the amazing story of Karen since I was ten (I'm 46 now and the story still moves me to tears - hmmm could it be that's why I work part-time with a wonderful young man who has MS?)
At any rate, I just had to say that I've ear-marked your blog, applied to join the Killilea fans' group at Yahoo - kudos to you for starting it!
Also - just a side note - I discovered the love of my life only recently - also online. We'll be getting married in late fall and nearly everyone we know thinks we're insane for meeting 'online'. I think to myself - "Would they be happier if we'd met in a bar? A boxing tournament? A Wiccan Convention?"
