JournalCon began with Carolyn and Diane talking about the history and future of the online journal.

It was during the first session that I realized I probably didn't need to drag my Franklin planner around with me...while the speakers were interesting, they weren't exactly teaching me anything. I started to view this whole JournalCon thing more as entertainment than anything else, and relaxed a bit.

I was prepared to be intimidated by Diane because of her formidable presence in the online journalling world, but she was really sweet and her husband and baby were fun, too.

"We're going to need a little vacation from each other," I told Renee on Friday night. "I think I'm a little tired of you."

"Aw, SHUT UP!" she yelled after only the briefest pause. "You love me!"

Throughout JournalCon, I was continuously surprised at how many people had heard of my journal, much less read it. Keli and I had a plan to be friends if none of the others knew who we were, but that wasn't necessary as she hitched her wagon to Shelley, the grandest personality there. I have never been so in awe of how fabulously someone dressed as I was when I saw Shelley arrive Saturday morning wearing the apron her grandma made for her. It was just the shit.

Isn't Keli pretty? I was going to add another comment there, but everything I wrote sounded like I was hitting on her.

My fabulous roommate Jen got her laptop hooked up for some of us to read from and many of us took her picture. I don't know why, but she's pretty snappy, no?

Dreama, organizer of the whole shebang.

Emily with Diane's baby...cute!

Dana, Rob and Caihomi...I can't spell her name...her real name is much easier to spell, but I'd best not put it here.

A few hours after this picture was taken, in the hotel bar, I kept yelling to her. "I NEED TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT MY PEOPLE!" (She's from Ireland for the uninitiated...) "HEY! MY PEOPLE!"

Jen and Renee. I guess I wasn't supposed to take pictures of Jen...oops...my finger slipped.

I can't get enough pictures of you, Renee! I just can't!

Keli, pondering how many readings people are going to do during their time at the podium.

Rob discussing birth.

Dana discussing blood and yelling "cock sucker!" randomly.
