Easter Earsss

It's the Pretty Bunny's holiday!

pretty bunny!!

My mom gave her an Easter basket filled with jars of baby food.

Uncle Den rules!

Uncle Dennis uses his days off to come and visit Quinn--he's a good Uncle Dennis.

Happy Easter!

OMG

OH. MY. GOD. Part I
Quinn and I stopped at my mom's house, where she is hosting her card club for lunch. All the women seated around the table (most of whom I've known my whole life) clucked and cooed over Quinn. It was all very sweet until I heard one exchange from the far end of the table:
"How old is she?"
"Five months, I think."
"She's BIG for five months!"
"Well, Amy's big, and so is Andy."

*NICE*!!!!

OH. MY. GOD. Part II
I just got Quinn to fall asleep for her afternoon napper, and as I was tiptoeing out of the room, I heard the jarring, clanky sounds of...live guitar? No, I thought...I must be mistaken. I looked out the window, and sure enough our 17-year old neighbor boy is outside on his front lawn VIDEOTAPING his friend playing guitar. ELECTRIC guitar.

I'm sorry. Perhaps you didn't hear me.

VIDEOTAPING. HIS. FRIEND. Playing guitar.

If this wakes Quinn up, I'm going to raise some ruckus of my own!

March 25

Quinn isn't rolling over or crawling or making God's eyes with her Brownie troop yet, but she does wave her feet proudly in the air when she's lying on her back. Sometimes we go to get her out of her crib and find one leg lounging through the slats and resting atop the crib bumper. I wouldn't be surprised if we found her in there with a fan and a mint julep.

saucy!

Today Quinn went to Grandma and Grandpa's house while I went to my Weight Watchers meeting (down 6 pounds so far! Whoo!) and when I returned to their house to pick her up, my mom had a few choice words about the "tight" onesie she was wearing. "Are you out of your TREE?" she demanded to know. "Would YOU like to lay around all day in a girdle???"

concerned!

Tomorrow is Baxter's 8th birthday. We've had him for 2 years. Here's his present, but don't tell him! It's a surprise.

Banshee!

Quinn has expanded on her vocalizing tricks--now she squawks and shrieks and whoops and yodels when she senses that there is conversation taking place that she isn't part of. Last night during dinner, for example, Andy and I couldn't hear each other over her hooting. The funniest thing about this was the look on her face--totally blank. She was just looking straight ahead at nothing in particular, shrieking her head off.

She is drooling like a fiend. It's kind of gross. She has two little toofer bumps on her lower middle gums. They're not on top, they're in the front--two little bumps where you can see that some toofers are forming.

Tomorrow we're going to Gym Babies class--brought to us by the Gymboree people. I'm a little nervous. Quinn and I aren't exactly an athletic pair.

w-w-w-windy!

It's WINDY here in the flatlands of Illinois! Our windows are shaking and it's LOUD! Quinn's bedroom faces the back of the house, where there's nothing but cornfields to block all that wind. It's really, really loud in there tonight--the wind woke her up about an hour after we put her to bed. I got her out of her crib (she was SO happy to see me--she was definitely ready to get up and start visiting) and put her in our bed, where it's not quite so loud. We're going to keep her there tonight because her crib is right next to the window in her room, and I don't like her being there during this storm.

I am a little excited that I get to sleep with her tonight. She's so adorable--I just love her so much.

And to think of how I mocked Kenny Loggins and his family bed.

Well...he's still kind of a sissy...

Cabin fever

I haven't been out of the house in 2 days--I'm a little loopy.

If I could force Quinn to be on a schedule, it would be the one she's been on for the past 2 days. I am praying that it's going to stick. It goes like this:

Up at 7:00 a.m. Baffer. Clothes. Bottle.
Back in bed (with me--shut up) until about 10:30 or 11 (again--shut up! you'd do it too, if you could!)
Eat. Play. Dadder comes home for lunch and plays. Another bottle.
Back in bed (without me) from about 2 to 4.
Eat. Watch me make dinner. Dadder comes home and we all eat.
Pajamas. Play. Last bottle.
Bed at 7:30.
Sleep until 7:00 a.m.

I'm her boss--can't I, like, make this schedule set in stone or something? Fine her if she messes up? Give her some type of citation of she wakes up in the middle of the night?

I need to get out. I really do. I'm starting to hallucinate.

food and fun

Someone needs to come over to my house right now and tell me to UNHAND THE LIFETIME MOVIES! PUT THEM DOWN, AND BACK SLOWLY AWAY FROM THE TELEVISION! With the addition of the Lifetime Movie Network to our home, I've completely lost control.

Anyway. Quinn? Yes. Quinn. She's here. In good health.

RUN, TRACEY GOLD! RUN FROM YOUR PURSUER!!! RUN FROM THIS MOVIE THAT HAS BLATANTLY RIPPED OFF THE STEAMING PILE OF CRAP THAT IS "WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING"!

Quinn has been dabbling in the world of cereal and fruit. She's doing much better than she was. Now she sees the cereal bowl and spoon coming her way, and she opens her mouth expectantly. If she gets peaches instead of cereal first, she holds her mouth open with the peaches swimming around in there and looks at me quizzically, then lets the peaches drip out of her mouth. If she gets cereal first, she kicks her legs and lunges at the spoon, fairly impaling herself on it.

"I like this eating thing!" she seems to be saying. "Will we be doing a lot of that around here??"
