Home, home, home is good.

My mom and I are back from NYC, and not a moment too soon.

Apparently, Quinn was a Bad Girl for her Aunt Julie and Uncle Denny while Andy went to the airport to pick us up. When it dawned on her that both of her parents were out carousing, she cried and flailed her arms and threw her pacifier at Denny. By the time we arrived at my mom's at about 8:30 p.m., Quinn was passed out in Julie's arms and she looked as if she'd had a rough evening.

Julie, that is.

When I picked Quinn up, she immediately snuggled against me and just laid there on my chest, listening to me talk. Every few minutes she'd raise her head up, peer into my eyes, grin wildly, and bury her head in my neck again. I think she missed me as much as I missed her.

We had a great time (more about seeing Rosie later in the journal) but I think my mom and I are both glad to be home.

Dad's home

Thanks to everyone who has written--my dad's home from the hospital. Dennis and I went to pick him up...do you think he was concerned upon realizing that the two of us (prone to wetting our pants together) were going to be in charge of his check-out?

no, Quinn hasn't shrunk...this is from Christmas

Neither one of my dad's illnesses--an 82-year-old heart and lungs full of asbestos--can be fixed. He just has to live with being short-of-breath.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone happier to be home.

pretty days and hospital stays

Quinn spent most of Easter hiking up her dress to suck on the hem.

needs salt!

She can just about sit up in the tub, which she greatly enjoys. Her ear infection is all better, by the way.

ffffeeet!

She eats a lot of soap. And hair. We think she's gifted.

shhhove it in

My dad is in the hospital. He's got a bum ticker. He looks small and frail and I'm really worried about him. I don't feel like writing; I feel like sitting on the couch with a bowl of Cocoa Puffs and watching my TiVo'd re-runs of ER. I want him to get better. Today.

Quinn has an ear infection in her right ear. I don't like that at all.
